MEN'S RIGHTS/ISSUES GENERAL COMMENTS
For the past four decades or more we have heard almost non stop from women's rights lobbyists. During that time women did a wonderful job to improve the lot of their gender. It is true that before that women were often disadvantaged in work, health, education, and many other matters. In some cases they still are.
Unfortunately, in their lobbying zeal the more radical feminists drove wedges into the fabric of family life and society in general and it has almost always been the children who suffered. Divorce has spiralled, stress has increased, and many men feel real, if hidden, disadvantage and frustration - which often shows in anger and aggression.
Sadly, few of the above issues have been properly addressed.
The divisive 'them and us' gulf between the genders has grown and in many cases a genuine, though again not often admitted, diminution in disrespect has appeared. Whatever happened to femininity, tenderness and chivalry?
Lack of respect and love between the sexes is picked up on by children who in turn risk growing up as loveless cynics. Even American junk television shows such as The Simpsons, South Park etc. feed this cynicism.
The fact is, there are many things in life that either men or women are just no good at and rather than struggle in those areas of adversity, perhaps it would be wiser to let the best equipped have the field.
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) understands that these are matters that stir great emotion and that they must be dealt with compassionately and with even handed wisdom.
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will commence a review of the family court system to, as much as possible, remove gender bias from the system and to provide the best means humanly possible for dispute resolution - from the children's point of view
TIMES OF CHANGE
At the beginning of the 21st century we can well say that it is often men who feel themselves discriminated against.
Examples include:a. Division of assets after a divorce
b. Custody
c. Access to childrenOBSERVATIONS - CONSEQUENCES OF BROKEN MARRIAGES
* It is far too easy to obtain a divorce (which consequently and unfairly costs all taxpayers and often
destroys the lives of children).
* Too many children from divided homes are subsequently disadvantaged.
i.e. education, jobs, emotionally.
* Far too many husbands fail to pay child support.
* Far too much child support money is spent inappropriately by single mothers.
* Fathers often find their children poisoned against them by their former spouses and even in some cases by social workers.GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) is about keeping families together as much as is possible by tackling the root causes of separation and divorce.
EDUCATION ON MEN'S ISSUES
For decades men have stood back and watched as women gained better access to professional counselling, health care, hospital care, education and jobs. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will strive to even up this thinking by representing both genders equally.
