EDUCATION
"The English language contains thousands of colourful and wonderfully expressive words and phrases. What a tragedy that so many people cannot mentally drag themselves beyond f..k for every second word they use! I know I learned my first swear word in the primary school yard - almost half a century ago and I'm not proud of that. I doubt very much that anything has changed much in schools today . " Lyn Vickery 2003.
GENERAL COMMENTS
"The aim of education is the knowledge, not merely of facts, but of values."
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will restore the decent values of respect for others, discipline, politeness, honour and good manners to our education system. For the last few decades the education system have been a happy hunting ground for political and radical activists and a range of socially dysfunctional nut cases who wanted nothing better than to experiment and undermine the values and corrupt the minds of our young. Is it any wonder that many of the youth of today are selfish, rude, ignorant, ill mannered, loud, thoughtless, flout the law, rebel against even the mildest authority and drive their parents half insane?
EDUCATION FOR AUSTRALIANS FIRST The first priority of GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA 'S) education policy is the education of Australians - not the children of rich foreigners.
The tendency of many educational institutions to grant places to overseas students for financial gain has resulted in thousands of Australians missing out on life changing career opportunities and led to much of the poverty, stress and disenchantment seen in our society.
Successive Governments, both Liberal and Labor have robbed our own children in their mad quest for foreign currency. We have equipped foreigners with the first class education they need to outdo Australia on the international stage of business and commerce. How blind our leaders have been!
Under Global Action (Australia) no capable Australian will be denied an education to tertiary level on the grounds of cost. In addition, all educational establishments will be required to provide places for Australians on a priority basis and only after that need is completely satisfied will will foreign students be allowed to enrol. It is impossible to build a smarter Australia and at the same time give many of our best academic places to foreigners. Charity begins at home - so does education. If Australia wants to remain a world leader in any sphere or endeavour in the future we need the brightest people.
GLOBAL ACTION (Australia) will encourage Australia's best academic brains to return home with both financial and industry based incentives.
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will reform the education system from the bottom up to vastly improve literacy and numeracy to ensure that all students have the basic skills to hand before they enter high school.
Reforms will include:
a. Clear focus on skills delivery at every level.
b. Early identification of student learning deficiencies.
c. Early and effective remedial programs.
d. New programs at all levels devoted to motivation, discipline, confidence building, personal self esteem, self
worth and community spirit.e. No child in Australia should feel disadvantaged or discounted (Triggers for future crime).
f. A return to the rote learning of tables and basic spelling, but also using the latest proven advances
technology can offer.g. A re-education program for teachers and the elimination (as far as possible) of political ideology and flavour of
the month political correctness, trendy "I've got rights" nonsense from the school curriculum and environment.h. A much simplified and reduced central bureaucracy.
i. Every Australian student of Primary and Secondary School age shall be entitled to receive a free bottle of milk
each day. The cost of this will be easily offset by future savings on the national health bill.k. All food sold in Primary School tuck shops must be of a nationally approved nutritional value. No junk food.
l. Free dental cavity prevention and repair for all Primary School students - on a regular basis.
m. Reintroduction of a form of compulsory Military Cadet and Civil emergency training into the school curriculum.
The aim being to provide young people with physical exercise, discipline and basic first aid skills in the
case of accident, civil emergency, fire or terrorism. This training to commence in high school and be
concluded in tertiary years.
n. ENGLISH will be the MANDATORY language spoken in all business and tertiary institutions by both students and teachers.
If students cannot, or refuse, to exclusively speak fluent english while on the grounds of Australian educational institutions they will
lose the right or enrolment. Chinglish, Hindlish or any other bastardisation of the language will not be tolerated. Foreign students
can leave their native languages OFF CAMPUS.
See below. Also see SPORT.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE Australia is an english speaking language nation and will continue to be so under GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA). The use of foreign languages in everyday conversation will be discouraged although they may of course continue to be taught in schools and will be used in international commerce etc.
All Australian citizens, permanent residents, and those on temporary work visas will be firmly encouraged to use english in public. The use of foreign languages in public can cause unnecessary annoyance to many english speaking Australians, especially when used behind peoples backs or in an effort to withhold facts from english speaking Australians in their own country.
Australians have a right to know what others in their presence are saying and should not have to put up with foreign babble.
PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION
The issue of public versus private education will always be a hot one. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) sees both as efficient, but recognizes that private educators in the Primary and Secondary sectors usually have the added value of instilling superior moral values.
THE COMMUNITY VIEW ON THE PERCEIVED POSITION AND WORTH OF TEACHERS
In the past teachers enjoyed great respect and esteem in the eyes of the community. Over the past decade this respect, like that of many other professions, has been weakened and sapped by the introduction of (particularly) left wing party political theories and dogma which led to bad lawmaking, bad policy and bad student and community outcomes.
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) values the efforts and dedication of our educators and will strive to provide the logistics and resources to ensure that their labours are recognized both by the community and and in their pay packets.
THE ABYSS BETWEEN EDUCATION AND CAREER
There exists a great chasm between where the formal education process ends and where careers (we hate the word jobs!) begin. Into this gaping void fall many of our less intellectually gifted or focussed students.
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will strive to bring greater meaning, focus and urgency to career path management for students in their final years of secondary school by requiring teachers to spend more time on this aspect of their responsibilities. This will include additional teacher training in this area, plus regular compulsory workplace experience in commercial environments for all teachers - education meets the real world!
It is vital that subjects and streams mesh with real careers in business, industry or in the public service otherwise time, effort and public money are wasted.
The introduction of a new pro-active program called CAREER LINK will focus drive and direct students across the chasm between education and the real workplace. CAREER LINK will be charged with the duty of finding every student a real career - thereby breaking any notion of joining a dole queue upon completion of secondary school studies, TAFE or University.
GOOD MANNERS AND DISCIPLINE
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will re-introduce the concepts of respect for elders, good manners and what constitutes acceptable behaviour back into our education system.
Good attitude, politeness, positive values, incentives, motivation and discipline will all be heavily stressed under GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) education policy.
TEACHING OF RELIGION MORALS AND SCIENCE
The virtual extinction of moral and basic religious education in our government schools system is one of the root causes of moral decay, crime and unacceptable behaviour throughout the Australian community.
"When decent moral values are no longer taught selfishness and anarchy surely follow." Lyn Vickery
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) believes that science (such as evolution) and the belief in a divine creator must be taught side by side in all schools in order to allow our students to make up their own minds on a wide range of issues that are critical to the moral fabric and attitudes of the Australian community of the future. (See RELIGION)
Without exemption, basic Christian religious values and morals will be taught as an integral part of the Australian junior and senior school curriculum. Private schools are free to teach their own religious views, but will also be required by law to teach both evolution and a basic Christian moral values curriculum.
Under GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) a much greater emphasis will also be placed on the teaching of ethics and codes of acceptable behaviour at all levels of the education system. All members of the community must understand that with rights come responsibilities.
CADET AND EMERGENCY SERVICE TRAINING
Compulsory units in basic emergency, first aid, health, survival, safety and discipline training will be introduced to the senior school curriculum under GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) . This is needed to prepare a large segment of the community in the wake of the dangers exposed by global terrorism and the spread of technology and weapons of mass destruction.
