Democracy? What is this fuzzy process of delegation of power that we hold so dear? Where did it originate? How does it work? Who benefits?

The long and checkered history of Democracy began with the city states of Sumer, classical Greece, Rome and medieval Italy. But the forms of democracy these ancient peoples knew bare little resemblance to what voters expect in the 21st Century. For instance, in ancient times neither slaves or women had political rights.

Both democracy and its sister republicanism have been used and abused by almost every culture in which they took root. Yet it has not been so much the systems of government that have brought prosperity or ruin to the people, but rather the character and values of those leaders who the people entrusted with power.

Given a little time and the slightest opportunity evil leaders will pervert and bend the best political system to their own ends. On the other hand, leaders with moral fibre and good hearts have reformed and mended even the worst political systems.

GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) strives to build an ever expanding team of visionary, high caliber, informed, intouch, intelligent, dynamic no nonsense people of good character who by constantly consulting the people will rightly uphold and advance the process of good government in a fast changing world.

GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) stands for small, dynamic, hands on, efficient government by the people and for the people.

The possible future shape and structures of our democracy are at present under close examination by GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) . Change is inevitable. Over the last 100 years the pendulum of power has swung too far in the direction of over-regulation, bloated bureaucracy, big business and various vested interests.

Across the political spectrum the drive, energy, and incentive of the people has been milked and manipulated by clever minorities with their fingers firmly on the buttons of power.

Numerous issues present themselves, including the monarchist versus republican debate.

As with all things, human government is evolving. If it ever ceases to do so, we will surely die. With this in mind we must study the past while we strive in the present to mold and fashion our future. Our destiny is what we are fashioning right now.

Comfort, ease, sloth and nothing all beget less than nothing. The United States received its wake up call about becoming too comfortable on a bright September day in 2001. We received ours in Bali. Let us learn the lesson and sharpen up Australia in all areas of our personal lives and in government.

Is life not more than a mortgage strapped house or apartment, a pile of bills, meat pies and football?

For decades Australia has been like a ship without a rudder. Outside of sport, there has been little hint of a national vision - no clearly defined national goals towards which we may all strive. Above all, the elected governments of the day almost never bothered to consult the people. Did anyone ask you if you wanted a GST? Did anyone knock on your door to ask if you would like a carbon trading scheme that will dip into your hip pocket?

It is the failure of government to foster and uphold worthwhile national ideals, values, targets and goals to which the nation may bend its back that partially explains Australia's national malaise. As the Good Book says "Where there is no vision, the people perish!"

Looking through the policies outlined on this website you will discover that GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) has many proposals, plans and ideas to better the lives of Australians. But they alone do not enunciate GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA 'S) vision.

When our forefathers founded this great nation and brought its Commonwealth and Constitution into being it was in climate of peace at home. Australia did not endure the fires of a War of Independence or a Civil War, like the United States of America. As a result our patriotism is more low key, but no less heartfelt. The esteem in which we hold our heroes is perhaps of a quieter order than that displayed by other great nations. How many great Australians (the mention of whose name) can stir proud emotions or bring a tear to the eye? How many Australians could name or tell about our early Statesmen, Prime Ministers or State Premiers?

How dear do we hold our national flag? Do our children really know or understand what that flag symbolises and the glory and the pain it embodies?

Every nation or culture needs its heroes. Many have covered the name of Australia in true glory. But who were they? It is not that we don't have them. It's just that our governments have been remiss in not holding them up as shining examples of the values we should all strive towards. Is the outlaw Ned Kelly really the best that we can do?

It is time Australia took its proud history and achievements, dusted them off, and showed them more visibly to our children, our youth, and to the world. People make a nation, but Government policy molds its international image. Here previous governments have failed us.

GLOBAL ACTION will give Australia's self esteem, pride and patriotism a shot in the arm.

b. Every Australian child of Primary School age shall be entitled to receive a free bottle of milk and a piece of
fresh fruit on every school day.

c. All food and drinks sold in Primary School tuck shops must be of a nationally approved nutritional value
and should be free of artificial colouring, preservatives, and other nasties. No junk food.

d. Free basic dental cavity prevention and repair for all Primary and Secondary School students.

f. Every competent secondary school student in Australia will, if they so desire be granted every opportunity to go
on to Tertiary studies.

g. No Australian (citizen) student will be denied the opportunity to study at a tertiary level on the grounds of
financial hardship.

    h.    Every educator/teacher must show a high level of oral english and must have worked in private enterprise
           outside of the teaching profession for at least two years. Teaching College student pass marks must be
           65% or better.

i. No Australian will have their telephone service disconnected due to financial hardship (* See
Telecommunications).

j. No Australian will have their electrical power service disconnected due to financial hardship (* See Energy).

k. No Australian will have their gas service disconnected due to financial hardship (* See Energy).

l. Free and comprehensive Spoken/Oral English courses will be offered to all naturalised Australians.

j. Foreign languages used on signs and hoardings must be accompanied by a complete translation in English or
be removed.

m. All food and drinks imported or manufactured in Australia must meet stiff new health and nutrition standards,
and accurately display their constituents in English or immediately be removed from sale.

n. The adult dental care system will be overhauled to allow the national backlog to be eliminated and for a
preventative care program to commence.

    o.   GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will keep efficient, productive and viable farmers on the land. All primary
        industries will receive a "from the ground up" overhaul to ascertain viability. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA)
          will begin with questions such as "To remain profitable, how much do you need to get for your product?" being
          aimed at farmers.
          GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will lock in reasonable base incomes for farmers and primary producers and
          introduce "drought buster" strategies and solutions to combat seasonal/cyclical downturns due to Acts of God.

    p.    Manufacturers will receive tax breaks, tailored tariff protection (not feather bedding), favorable market
           treatment from Government authorities, help in structuring attractive financial backing and strong export
           incentives. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will transform Australia from a net importer of manufactured goods
         to a net exporter.

    q.    Within strict environmental and conservation guidelines GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) with offer attractive
           new incentives to miners to explore, mine, export, process and become involved and integrate into
           a revitalized Australian Manufacturing Industry.

    r.    To GLOBAL ACTION, sustainable development, conservation and the environment mean nothing less than the
          very survival and future of Australia. World's best practice will be applied to the legislation and to our actions
          in this area.

s. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will seek to work with people of like mind, regardless of their party or political
alliances.

t. Because GLOBAL ACTION is a world wide movement working for the interests of the people and the planet.
We will bring a new perspectives, experience, expertise and solutions to Australia's vision of the future.

    u.   GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will vigorously support our homegrown aerospace industry and encourage
          major new inroads into space, communications, defense and scientific development.

v. The Criminal Justice system in Australian will receive a major shake-up. * See Justice System.

w. A major financial boost and tax incentives will place the Australian commercial film and television industry at
the forefront of the world. This, like tourism, will become a major export earner for Australia.

x. GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) sees eternal vigilance as a vital tool in the fight against Terrorism.

industries to maximise the benefits of the tourism industry to the economy.

           incentives that will directly create real benefits to employers and employees and allow all those who wish
           to work to do so, regardless of age or disability.

GLOBAL ACTION exists and acts for the people, not vested interest groups. It is a 21st century movement created to return power at all levels to the people.

a. Remove the masks behind which the vested interest groups that plague and try to control Australia hide.

b. Listen too, but not be ruled by lobby groups with narrow, self interested, agendas.

c. Streamline bureaucracy and remove public sector authorities and organisations that are irrelevant of simply
self serving. The public service exists to serve the public - not its self.

d. Businesses exist to serve their customers. Shareholders, while a vital and valued part of Australia, do not
run or own Australia.

    d.    Return government to the people by the popular use of the referendum and more participatory democracy.
           There is a frustrating sense of powerlessness in which people feel their issues and needs will never be
           addressed. The people don't know how to talk to their government, or are despairing and even fearful of it.
           As government has grown ever larger it has become remote and dictatorial.
           # NOTE: Canberra has become a modern day Palace of Versailles - and we all know how that ended up
           with revolution and the guillotine!

e. Create opportunities for advancement, for business, employees, science, technology, environmental
rejuvenation, industry and the underprivileged.
