CHARITIES - GENERAL COMMENTS![]()
GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) recognizes and applauds the hundreds of thousands of Australians who contribute their time and money to the vital work of charity.
The poor are always with us!As a major priority GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) will listen to and join vigorously in the battle waged by charities in this country in the following ways:
a. Streamline bureaucracy and help reduce the overheads of charities to enable them to deliver more to those in
need.b. Making more government resources available to charities.
1. To drastically reduce the suffering of people in Australia. (Charity begins at home!)
2. Use of ABC airtime to publicise major causes.
3. Access to appropriate resources of Government departments.
4. Make unused or redundant infrastructure available to charitable organisations
5. Provide incentives for major Government departments and large organisations to adopt and
work with a nominated charity.
6. Create an exchange scheme whereby government personnel work in charities for short
periods to gain "real world" experience and vice versa.
7. Provide a quick and accurate periodical audit system for charities.c. Encourage charities to merge and rationalise their operations where possible to eliminate duplication and
waste.e. Forbid charities to pay the electric power, water, gas or basic telephone services of the poor and those on
major disability pensions and legislate to force major providers of essential services to these groups to provide
basic services at no cost. See Below.MAJOR POLICY OBJECTIVES
Were they are provided in the vicinity, no genuinely poor or needy Australian will ever have to forego the following basic services:
a. Electricity.
b. Gas.
c. Water
d. Basic telephone service (Income calls, and a limited number of outgoing local calls per week)GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) takes particular exception to the fact that millions of dollars of hard earned charity money at present goes to pay the above mentioned service providers. We see the harassment and demands of these organisations upon the poor as morally reprehensible and unconscionable conduct and a gross MISDIRECTION OF FUNDS.
No longer will these organisation be permitted to profit at the expense of the poor or of charities. Most such organisations enjoy either a monopoly or near monopoly position in the market place and GLOBAL ACTION (AUSTRALIA) intends to make sure they discharge their obligations to the poor and needy as good corporate citizens.ALSO SEE: AGED CARE ENERGY IMMIGRATION TELECOMMUNICATIONS
